Seeking to turn Himachal Pradesh into a ‘green state’ by 2026, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Friday presented the Budget for 2023-24 announcing sops for electric vehicles, subsidy to youth for setting solar power projects and replacing of diesel run buses with the battery operated ones.
In its maiden budget, with a total outlay of Rs 53,413 crore, the Congress-led government also announced the first-of-its-kind cow cess of Rs 10 on the sale of each bottle of liquor, while taking steps to fulfil various election promises with announcements like Rs 1,500 per month dole for women, a pension scheme for widows and the disabled, and a housing scheme for single women with a provision of up to 40 per cent subsidy.
