WhatsApp users on iOS can now post voice notes as status updates

Last month, WhatsApp introduced several new features for Status on Android devices like the ability to react, private audience selector and more. Now, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform is rolling out the ability to post voice notes as status updates on the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS users.

While you can post voice notes from chats as a status update, they cannot be longer than 30 seconds. To record voice status on WhatsApp, simply head over to the ‘Status’ tab, tap on the floating button with pencil icon and click on the microphone icon that appears on the bottom right of the screen.

Similar to how you record voice notes, tapping and holding the button will start recording and letting it go will stop it. Once done, tap on the send icon and you are good to go.

The WhatsApp changelog on the Apple App Store suggests that picture-in-picture mode for WhatsApp video calls on iOS is still rolling out. This feature was added to the instant messaging platform last month. One thing to note here is that WhatsApp is still rolling out the ability to post voice status updates, so it might take a few days before the feature appears on your device.

In the last few weeks, WhatsApp has added numerous functionalities to the platform like split view on Android tablets, call link feature for Windows, ability to schedule group calls and more
