The upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday will feature the reunion of the X-Men from Fox’s franchise, as a number of the original actors will be returning to their roles in this new entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This movie will allow MCU characters to collaborate with these legendary mutants, and it seems another member from the X-Men team might also join the ensemble.
In a recent episode of the Power of X-Men podcast, renowned comic writer for Marvel and X-Men, Chris Claremont, shared his thoughts on the Avengers: Doomsday teaser that showcased the returning X-Men characters. During the conversation, he expressed his enthusiasm by stating, “The thing I find most wonderful about it is they’re bringing back, the original cast, including Famke.”
It is important to note that this is not the first instance of Claremont revealing information about the Avengers films that later proved to be accurate. In April 2025, he disclosed that Chris Evans would be returning to the franchise.
By December 2025, it was officially confirmed that Evans would reprise his role as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday. As of the writing of this article, Marvel Studios had yet to make a public comment regarding Claremont’s remarks about Famke Janssen.
Despite Janssen previously stating in an October 2025 interview with ScreenRant that she was unaware of her involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, saying,
Famke Janssen: Yeah, to be honest with you, I don’t really know the storyline, so I’m not sure. It’s not my world, it’s never been my world, really, that whole comic book world. I should know by now, I’ve been in it long enough. But I’m really excited to see when it comes out. Just like everyone else, I’ll find out what those storylines are and how it all ended up.
it’s common for actors in Marvel films to deny their participation due to Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) before a film’s release. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if Janssen’s return as Jean Grey turns out to be one of the surprises in the film.
Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige also hinted at CinemaCon in 2025 that several actors and characters have yet to be announced for the Phase 6 film, leaving room for Janssen’s character to be among them. Given the secretive nature of the film’s plot, Janssen’s inclusion could indeed be a significant reveal.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere in theaters on December 18.
