INDOX Joins as Executive Producer for “Ashland”
INDOX, a nonfiction agency founded by Luke Brawley, has recently taken on the role of Executive Producer for the documentary “Ashland,” marking the first film by director Wyatt Maw.
The documentary, which is currently in the final stages of production, showcases the revered plains of Eastern Montana. This area is famously depicted as the quintessential American West, celebrated for its expansive landscapes, equestrian culture, and the intimate community events of its small towns.
Filmed over the course of eight years on 16mm film, “Ashland” intricately interlaces the narratives of its young inhabitants, including those from the Crow and Northern Cheyenne tribes, alongside horse whisperers and community elders. The film aims to craft a vivid tableau of the locale, examining themes of identity and the enduring nature of cultural traditions.
Strategic Festival Planning and International Outreach
As Executive Producers, INDOX intends to closely collaborate with Maw and his team to refine the film’s launch strategy, focusing on film festival entries and positioning within the global market to maximize its international appeal. “Ashland” is notably the first project where INDOX has stepped in as an Executive Producer.
Sharing his enthusiasm, Maw commented, “Partnering with INDOX for the forthcoming phases of ‘Ashland’ is incredibly exciting. Luke immediately grasped the essence and potential impact of the film on a global scale. His commitment and advocacy for the film have been highly motivating. ‘Ashland’ is the product of a profound exploration of the American West’s allure and its embedded myths. With INDOX’s support, I am confident that the film will make a significant impact on audiences this year.”
Kyle Martin, known for his work on “Look Into My Eyes,” also serves as an executive producer for the documentary.
Brawley expressed his admiration for Maw’s work, saying, “From our initial discussions, it was evident that Wyatt has crafted something truly unique with ‘Ashland.’ The film not only connects deeply with its setting and community but also employs a broad cinematic scope that lingers with viewers. For INDOX, becoming the Executive Producer was a seamless progression of our mission to back films that resonate with us deeply. ‘Ashland’ perfectly embodies our values, and we are thrilled to aid in its journey to reach a global audience.”
