In just a fortnight, Samara Weaving’s latest crime thriller will be available for streaming on various digital services.
Having initially gained fame through her roles in horror films such as Mayhem and The Babysitter in 2017, Samara Weaving truly made her mark with the 2019 hit Ready or Not, establishing herself as a new icon in the genre. This success led to her involvement in several follow-ups and new projects, including The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020), Scream VI (2023), and upcoming titles such as Azrael (2024), Borderline (2025), and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026). Recently, she expanded her range by starring in the heist film Eenie Meanie (2025), the action-comedy Over Your Dead Body (2026), and now a gritty R-rated crime film soon to be released online.
The movie Carolina Caroline, which premiered in cinemas just three days prior, is set to launch on digital platforms in two weeks. Directed by Adam Carter Rehmeier and penned by Tom Dean, it features Weaving as a woman who teams up with a charming fraudster on the lam, embarking on a crime-driven romance that takes them across the Southeast in pursuit of her lost mother.
Following its U.S. theatrical debut on June 5, Carolina Caroline will be available digitally at midnight ET on June 23, with availability on platforms such as Prime Video, where it can currently be pre-ordered in UHD for $19.99.
The cast of the film also includes horror genre favorite Kyle Gallner, Jon Gries (known for Napoleon Dynamite and The White Lotus), and Emmy-winning actress Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer).
After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, Carolina Caroline garnered critical acclaim, achieving a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have lauded the film for its fresh take on a traditional crime narrative, highlighted by a palpable tension and a fiery chemistry between Samara Weaving and Kyle Gallner that adds a thrilling edge to their tragic romance.
Currently, Carolina Caroline lacks an audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, having received fewer than 50 ratings.
Despite its limited release in over 200 theaters and the absence of reported box office earnings, distributor Magnolia Pictures may be positioning the film for greater success on digital platforms, where it might reach a broader audience more rapidly.
Carolina Caroline marks one of three films featuring Samara Weaving released in 2026. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come premiered on March 20, and Over Your Dead Body, a dark comedy about a couple plotting against each other during a weekend retreat, opened on April 24.
