WestEnd Films has taken on worldwide sales duties for Woody Allen’s upcoming picture, which is scheduled to begin filming on October 5 in Madrid.
Written and directed by Allen, the contemporary comedy features an international cast led by Marton Csokas (The Lord of the Rings), Jemima Kirke (Girls), Jakob Oftebro (Hamilton), Peter Vives (The Time in Between) and Alexi Wasser (Girls).
Principal photography will be carried out in the city and surrounding region of Madrid. The film, which will be shot in English, marks Allen’s third time making a movie in Spain after Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) and Rifkin’s Festival (2020). No official title has been disclosed for the new project.
Madrid-based production company Wanda Vision is producing the film together with Allen’s Gravier Productions and 3SIX9 Studios. The creative team on board includes cinematographer José Luis Alcaine, costume designer Sonia Grande and editor Alain Bainée.

Allen said he’s pleased to be returning to Spain, noting that this will be his third film made in the country and his first opportunity to shoot in Madrid, a city he has long admired.
The move continues WestEnd’s extended relationship with Gravier Productions. The sales outfit handled world distribution on Allen’s recent release Coup de Chance, which debuted at the Venice Film Festival and has been sold to distributors in more than 30 territories. WestEnd also represents a catalogue of 25 Woody Allen titles, among them Midnight in Paris, Match Point and Blue Jasmine.
Maya Amsellem, Managing Director of WestEnd Films, said the company is happy to extend its collaboration with Allen and his team. After the strong global response to Coup de Chance, WestEnd is eager to bring his latest picture to the marketplace; she highlighted the film’s exciting multinational cast and the decision to shoot in Madrid, and said they look forward to presenting it to buyers at the American Film Market.
WestEnd Films is set to showcase the picture to international buyers at the upcoming AFM.
