Apple Original Films has selected Sony Pictures Entertainment to release two star-studded films in theaters around the world following its distribution partnership with Ridley Scott’s Napoleon.
Project Artemis And Wolves will receive an exclusive theatrical release before appearing on Apple TV+ no earlier than 45 days later. The two films are expected to hit the big screen in 2024.
From writer and director Jon Watts, Wolves The main roles are played by George Clooney and Brad Pitt, two lone wolves who have the same job. Co-star is Amy Ryan. Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing via their Smokehouse Pictures along with Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner’s Plan B Entertainment. Dianne McGunigle is also a producer.
Project ArtemisDirected by Greg Berlanti from a screenplay by Rose Gilroy, with an ensemble led by Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum. Jim Rash, newcomer Anna Garcia, Donald Elise Watkins, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Nick Dillenburg as well as Christian Zuber and Woody Harrelson also star.
Johansson, Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn’s These Pictures banner is producing in association with Berlanti Productions. Plot details are being kept secret.
The two films join Apple Original Films’ growing selection of event films intended for both cinema and streaming. The initiative launched in October with Martin Scorsese’s big-budget awards contender Flower Moon Killer (This film is distributed by Paramount), followed by Napoleon. Scorsese’s western crime epic has grossed more than $155 million worldwide and picked up numerous awards on its way to the Oscars Napoleon has passed the $170 million mark.
Apple’s film project made history by becoming the first streaming service to win the Oscar for Best Film CODA.
