The seventh season of “Big Mouth” follows the now teenage students of Bridgeton Middle School on their way to high school. Change is the only constant as each character faces a new school, new friends, new enemies and new hormone monsters.
Each season of the comedy series has explored larger and more complex themes. In comparison, the series started off on a mild note in Season 1, with episodes focusing on first menstrual periods, pubic hair, porn, and sexual orientation. Since then, the series has evolved along with its characters, dealing with vagina shame, depression, a-sexuality, racial identity, and maybe even true love over six seasons…maybe. Season 7 is about overcoming even greater emotional, social and sexual hurdles as the kids face the biggest change of their lives: high school.

Megan Thee Stallion (Dick’s: The Musical) joins the voice cast as the new hormone monstress. The Oscar winner is among the other guest stars appearing in the new season Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Padma Lakshmi (Taste the nation), Zazie Beetz (joker), Emmy winner Billy Porter (pose), Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), And Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (I have never). The series was created by Jennifer Flackett, Mark Levin, Nick Kroll, And Andrew Goldberg. In addition to voicing many of the series’ characters, Kroll also largely bases the series on his own childhood and his real-life friendship with co-creator Andrew Goldberg, who is the inspiration for the main character Andrew Glouberman. The animated Nick and Andrew’s stories are based on the real-life childhood friendship of the two, who were best friends in middle school. In seventh grade, the two attended a sleepaway camp together, similar to their lively counterparts. While the story that Andrew and another camper became close friends is true, Kroll has yet to confirm whether any of the messier parts of this story stem from real-life inspiration.

Nick Kroll is responsible for the voices of many of the series’ most prominent characters and returns as Nick Birch, Maury the Hormone Monster, Rick the Hormone Monster, Coach Steve, Lola Skumpy and more. Kroll is able to demonstrate the range of his voice acting, which is no stranger to him having voiced characters before Sausage party, The Addams Family (2019 and its sequel 2021), Bob’s Burgers, To singand that Big mouth Spin-off series human Resource. John Mulaney returns to voice the slightly twisted main character, Andrew Glouberman. Jessi Klein takes on her role as Jessi Glaser, a young girl with a turbulent personal life and a bout of vagina shame. Ayo Edebiri returns to voice Missy, a black character previously voiced by a comedian Jenny Slate, who stepped down from the role in 2020. Slate later took on the role of Kaitlyn Grafton, the young friend of Jessi’s father and the mother of her new sibling. With Edebiri in the role of Missy, the character was able to explore more about her racial identity while making brief jokes about why the character’s voice changed.

Jason Mantzoukas is back as the mystical, the magical, the King of Horny, Jay Bilzerian. Jay resembles a 40-year-old wizard trapped in the body of an emotionally immature and deeply neglected teenager. Mantzoukas, who provides the voice of the crazy wolf boy, has done significant voice acting work, bringing characters to life in projects such as… Sun opposites, American father!And The Lego Batman Movie.
