“Five Nights at Freddy’s” fell sharply in its second year, but cracked the $100 million mark at the domestic box office, according to Deadline. The horror film dropped 76% and grossed $19.4 million, likely due to availability on Peacock. Why see a movie twice in the theater when you can watch it at home for $4.99? Plus, Freddy’s is horror property, and prices tend to drop significantly on second weekends, so don’t read too much into it.

The biggest problem this weekend was the lack of options for moviegoers. Dune: Part Two was supposed to be in theaters – and probably would have been – but ongoing strikes in Hollywood forced Legendary and Warner Bros. to push the big film back to March 2024. It’s a shame, because there were plenty of opportunities for Denis Villeneuve’s sequel to clean up without any significant competition.

Oh well.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour brought in another $13.7 million in four weeks, for a total of $166.1 million, while Killers of the Flower Moon collected $7 million in its third week, for a total of $52.3 million US dollars domestically.

Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla” grossed $5 million in 1,350 theaters, BST’s “What Happens Later” grossed $1.56 million in its debut week and Alexander Payne’s “The Holdovers” played in 64 in Week 2 Cinemas grossed $600,000.
