While the writers’ strike has been resolved, the actors’ strike is still ongoing – and in fact, the last round of talks between SAG/AFTRA and the studios failed as the two sides were still very far apart. This means that all projects planned for 2024, which were in the middle of filming at the start of the strike and are currently on hold, will be implemented keep going to stay on hold for at least a while longer. And the clock continues to tick towards next year.

So you can expect the films to be delayed because even if the strike is finally resolved soon (and it might not be!), there just won’t be enough time to shoot and then do all the post-production work had to be completed in time to meet the blockbusters’ original release dates. That’s apparently what’s happening at Marvel Deadpool 3the highly anticipated sequel starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

According to Deadline, the film was “half-finished” when the actors’ strike began, and at that point, a quick resolution to the strike would not allow production enough time to complete the film and prepare it for its original release date. That was May 3, 2024.

I don’t know how far along the various other blockbusters from early summer 2024 were when filming had to be stopped. Why, surely Deadpool 3 is not the only film expected in May next year that finds itself in this position. Additional films scheduled for release in May 2024 include: Garfield, FuriosaAnd Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. We should get it the following month John Wick spin off ballerina, Inside Out 2and the second part of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.

At least Marvel’s next film, The Wonder, is scheduled to hit theaters on November 10th.
