Is there a release date for Elf 2?
Elf 2 does not have a release date as it is highly unlikely that will happen.
The reason Elf 2 will never happen is that the film’s star Will Ferrell and director Jon Favreau didn’t get along particularly well during the filming of the first Elf film in 2002. This was confirmed by the late James Caan, who played Walter Hobbs, the father of Ferrell’s character Buddy Hobbs, in the film. This is what he said in an interview with Cleveland’s 92.3 The Fan’s Bull & Fox, where he revealed that he and his co-stars Mary Steenburgen and Zooey Deschanel are ready to make a sequel:
“We wanted to do it, and I thought, ‘Oh my God, I finally have a franchise movie, I could make some money and let my kids do whatever the hell they want, but the director and Will couldn’t make it happen.’ progressing very well,”
He also mentioned that Will Ferrell was willing to do Elf 2 as was she and that he was hired to do it but didn’t want Jon Favreau to return as director.
Elf’s cast includes Will Ferrell, James Caan, Mary Steenburgen, Zooey Deschanel, Bob Newhart, Ed Asner, Daniel Tay, Faizon Love and Peter Dinklage.

Elf 2 will not be in theaters.
