Do Kyung-soo, popularly known as DO of EXO, has reportedly ended his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment. He was part of this agency from the beginning of his music career, but will now move to another agency.

JTBC reported this DO. has not left SM Entertainment entirely as he continues to pursue group promotions and activities. However, his films and personal activities are handled by another agency that he and his former SM manager founded.

DO rose to fame as one of the main vocalists of the K-pop band. EXO. It currently consists of nine members including DO, Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Kai, Sehun and Chen.

SM Entertainment responds to reports of EXO members joining other agencies

EXO’s DO and his South Korean bandmates have been part of SM Entertainment for a long time. However, a recent report states that he has left the agency and started a new company with SM’s former manager.

While the singer/actor has yet to respond to the report, SM Entertainment has released a statement. It says: “DO’s exclusive contract with us expires at the beginning of November. After thorough discussions with DO, it was decided that he will continue his EXO activities with SM, but will continue his acting and solo activities through the newly formed agency founded by him and SM’s former manager.”

After news of DO’s exit from the agency spread, several reports suggested that other members were also planning to leave.

However, SM Entertainment denied these reports and said in their statement, “It is not true that Chanyeol and Sehun have moved to a new agency.” The contracts that EXO members signed with SM Entertainment at the end of last year remain valid and EXO activities will continue to operate under SM Entertainment.”

The agency further mentioned that it had “conditionally” allowed members to collaborate with their own established agencies on individual activities.
