Five Nights at Freddy’s has been given an official runtime.
Contrary to online rumors that claim “Five Nights at Freddy’s” will be around three hours long, AMC Theaters’ website lists the upcoming Blumhouse horror film’s official running time as one hour and 50 minutes.
What is Five Nights at Freddy’s about?
“The film follows Mike (Josh Hutcherson; Ultraman, The Hunger Games), a troubled young man who cares for his 10-year-old sister Abby (Piper Rubio; Holly & Ivy, Unstable) and is haunted by the unsolved disappearance of his younger brother more than a decade ago,” the official synopsis reads. “Recently laid off and desperate for a job so he can retain custody of Abby, Mike agrees to take a job as a night watchman at an abandoned themed restaurant: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. But Mike soon realizes that nothing is as it seems with Freddy. With the help of Vanessa, a local police officer (Elizabeth Lail; You, Mack & Rita), Mike’s nights at Freddy’s will lead him into inexplicable encounters with the supernatural and draw him into the black heart of an unspeakable nightmare.”
Based on the popular video game series by Scott Cawthon, Five Nights at Freddy’s is directed by Emma Tammi (“The Wind”), who co-wrote the screenplay with Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback. Cawthon also produced the film alongside Jason Blum, while Be a Sequeira, Russell Binder, Marc Mostman and Christopher H. Warner serve as executive producers.
In addition to Hutcherson, Rubio and Lail, Five Nights at Freddy’s also stars Mary Stuart Masterson (“Blindspotting,” “Fried Green Tomatoes”), Kat Conner Sterling (“We Have a Ghost,” “A Week Away”) and Matthew Lillard (” Scream”, “Thirteen Ghosts”). The animatronic characters featured in the film are from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
Just in time for Halloween, Five Nights at Freddy’s will be released simultaneously in US cinemas and Peacock on October 27, 2023.
