This is pretty much a given Martin Scorsese is one of the best filmmakers in the world. With several Oscar nominations and a string of films ranging from gangster films to documentaries about unique personalities, the director revealed that he has no intention of stopping what he loves (he is currently 80 years old). In an interview with The Associated Press, Scorsese spoke at length about his career and his new film Flower Moon Killer.

During the interview, Scorsese mentioned his colleague and equally acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino. While going through the skills he lacks, Scorsese talked about them Disreputable bastards“The director’s ability to create his own world and put it on a page.” Scorsese admitted he can’t sit in a room and do that. He revealed that his approach to the stories he wants to tell is very different:

“[Tarantino is] an author. I mean, it’s something different. I make up stories, I’m drawn to stories by other people, in very different ways. And so I think it’s a different process… I respect writers and I wish I could… I wish I could just be in a room and write these novels. No films, no novels. All stories, long stories.”

Scorsese abandons his process with “Killers of the Flower Moon” and other projects

Scorsese further noted that his process is different from that which a writer would follow. First he gets involved in the story and learns details from it, and if he is curious, he will find “a way” to tell that story. Only at a later point does he begin to think about the characters and ultimately “the spectacle around them”. At this point, every film is a milestone in Scorsese’s career, but Flower Moon Killer is a little more special because it reunites the director with two of his most frequent collaborators: DiCaprio and Robert De Niro (Amsterdam). In a recent interview with Collider, Scorsese revealed that he keeps going back to the duo because DeNiro was his friend as a teenager and they bonded over changing cinema history and modern classics like… taxi driver And Wild bull. DiCaprio was a recommendation from DeNiro, and the director and the Titanic Stern clicked while filming The plane and came much closer to me The departed.
