“I’ll never forget you.”
Those are the words Matt LeBlanc had to give him credit for Friends Co-star and late “brother” Matthew Perry. LeBlanc – who played Joey Tribbiani on the NBC sitcom – paid an emotional tribute to his late friend on Instagram, describing their time together as “one of the best times of…” [his] Life.”
The 56-year-old actor uploaded a series of photos with Perry, who played the sarcastic but lovable Chandler Bing on the hit television sitcom. The two were best friends on the series and appeared in several scenes together throughout the show’s ten seasons.
“Matthew. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly some of the best times of my life,” LeBlanc wrote. “It was an honor to stand on stage with you and call you my friend to be allowed to. I will always smile when I think of you and I will never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly, brother, you are finally free. Much love. And I guess you keep the 20 dollars, that you owe me.”
Perry and LeBlanc starred in Friends – which ran from 1994 to 2004 – alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer.
Matthew Perry died at the age of 54
On October 28, Perry was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home. Police officials are still trying to determine the exact cause of death, but confirmed there were no signs of foul play or illegal substances at the scene.
The Friends cast previously released a joint statement to pay tribute to “Matty.”
“We are all deeply devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but for now we will take a moment to grieve and process this incredible loss,” Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, Schwimmer and LeBlanc wrote. “Over time we will say more as we are able. At this time, our thoughts and love are with Matty’s family, his friends and everyone who loved him around the world.”
