Auto drivers seek action against two-wheelers by app-based firms

Auto-rickshaw drivers’ union in Ahmedabad Monday demanded action against two-wheelers by app-based companies for passengers at Ahmedabad Regional Transport Office near Subhash bridge.

An application submitted by the Ahmedabad Rickshaw Chalak Ekta Unionto the assistant regional transport officer read, “This is to notify that two-wheelers (bikes and scooties) which operate under the online companies Ola, Uber, Rapido, use white-coloured number plates… Complaint for the same was also registered with these online companies, and yet no action was taken in this regard.

We demand that the operation of these two-wheelers should be closed down. The operation of these two-wheelers is affecting our business.”

Hardik Patel, the assistant regional transport officer told this paper, “We will move their application forward, and try to look into the matter..”
