Case filed in PU hostel trespass case

The UT police Saturday registered a case against an unknown person in connection with the trespass in the girls hostel number-4, Panjab University (PU) that took place on Thursday.

The FIR was registered at Sector 11 police station. Police said that the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the hostel number-4 and in the surrounding areas is being scrutinised to establish the entry and exit route of the trespasser, who had entered the room of a woman hosteler on the third floor in Girl Hostel-4 on Thursday.

The unknown man entered the girl hostel from the main gate and went into the room of a girl student on the third floor in the main hostel building. The girl hosteler found him standing near her bed and shouted for help. The unknown man escaped leaving behind his black color scarf. The scarf was handed over to the police. The FIR was registered on the complaint of Hostel Number-4 warden, Tammanna R Saharawat.

The FIR states, “On checking the CCTV footage of the hostel it was seen that a man entered the hostel from the common main gate of Girl Hostel-3, 4 and 6 and thereafter GH-4 main gate followed by roaming around in the cycle shed parking area. The unidentified man, thereafter entered the hostel main building from the reception gate at around 3.45 am and stood at the reception. Five minutes later, he returned to the main building. He then went to the third floor and when a resident raised an alarm, he ran out of her room leaving behind his black scarf. The said scarf seen in the CCTV footage has been recovered from the resident’s room.”

Police said, “We are trying to identify the man from the CCTV footage. His entry and exit route is also being ascertained.”
