EC extends fresh electoral roll summary revision deadline in J&K

The Election Commission of India (EC) has extended the date to complete the fresh summary revision of electoral rolls in Jammu and Kashmir.

In March, the Commission had announced a fresh summary of photo electoral rolls in Jammu and Kashmir — the second time in less than a year — and set May 10 as the final date to publish the new electoral rolls. The Commission has extended it by a fortnight to May 27.

In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, the EC has approved his proposal to extend the date for completion of the process. As a result, the Commission has also extended the dates for filing of claims and objections to the special summary revision — it has now been set on May 6 instead of April 28. “The Election Commission has extended the date for filling claims and objections in connection with Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls up to 6th of May 2023,” said a release Thursday.
