GT vs KKR Playing XI tip-off: Shardul Thakur to play, Yash Dayal to miss out again, Alzarri Joseph to replace Little

IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be taking on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 39th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

In their last clash, Kolkata registered a famous win over hosts, courtesy Rinku Singh’s fiery cameo at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Since their defeat to KKR, the defending champions have won three games and are comfortably positioned in the second place of the standings with 10 points. The Knight Riders, on the other hand, dropped four games before gaining ground on the competition with a victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore. They currently have six points, which puts them in fourth place from the bottom.

Three weeks later, the two teams meet again and fans can expect another cracker of a contest from Kolkata.

Here’s the playing XI tip-off for GT vs KKR:

Shardul Thakur to join the fray

KKR all-rounder Shardul Thakur stayed out of the last game due to a niggle he sustained. Thakur was seen practicing in the nets ahead of their clash against Gujarat and is most likely to join the bowling attack. In that case, he will replace Vaibhav Arora.

Yash Dayal to miss out again

Rinku Singh’s knock of the tournament came in Gujarat Titans’ Yash Dayal’s over. He was dropped in the very next game and is probably recovering from the horrific night. Providing an update on him, skipper Hardik Pandya said that he fell ill and it is understood that the pacer will most certainly miss today’s game as well.

Alzarri Joseph to replace Josh Little

Another change that is anticipated from the Titans is that Joshua Little could be replaced by Alzarri Joseph. In this season, he has taken 7 wickets in 5 matches at an economy of 8.84.

GT vs KKR Pitch Report: After three IPL matches this season, Eden Gardens has averaged a first-innings score of 222. Out of all the exhibition grounds for the competition, it is the highest. However, spin has provided some relief, taking 21 wickets at an economy rate of 8.7 (versus 10.9 for pace) and a strike rate of 15.6, both of which are season-best figures for the grounds this IPL.
