Gujarat engineering student murdered during college fest in Bengaluru

A fight between two gangs during a college festival led to the death of a 22-year-old student from Gujarat in Bengaluru Friday after he was allegedly stabbed.

The victim was identified as Bhaskar Jetty, a native of Gujarat and a fourth-year student of mechanical engineering. The murder took place around 9.30 pm when the college fest was underway at the REVA University in Bagalur police limits.

A scuffle unfolded between two groups and turned violent. Jetty was stabbed by someone from the rival group and he fell to the ground. He was rushed to a private hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

The north-east division police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-east) Lakshmi Prasad said Jetty was stabbed on the chest and hand which resulted in his death. “We have scanned the CCTV footage and have identified the killer. We will arrest the accused soon,” he told the media.
