In Ludhiana, disabled man and his woman friend thrash his elder brother to death with callipers
A disabled man along with his woman friend allegedly thrashed his elder brother to death at the Sodhiwala village of Sidhwan Bet under Punjab’s Ludhiana district late Friday. The Ludhiana Rural police said the victim used to object to his brother meeting the woman.
The accused have been identified as Baljit Singh, 52 and his friend as Kuldeep Kaur, 42.
Rajpreet Kaur, the daughter of the victim Kuldeep Singh, 58, told the police her uncle Baljit Singh has polio in one leg and walks with the help of callipers. Baljit Singh, who was unmarried, had developed an illicit relationship with Kuldeep Kaur, a married woman who was a frequent visitor to his house, Rajpreet told the police.
“My father was against the relationship and stopped my uncle from meeting her. On Friday night, the woman again visited him. My father objected to it and asked the woman to leave following which there was a heated argument,” said Rajpreet Kaur. “Baljit Singh assaulted my father with his callipers. After he fell on the ground, Kuldeep Kaur also joined him and they kept on assaulting him till he died,” she added.
Sub-Inspector Karamjit Singh, SHO, Sidhwan Bet police station, said soon after receiving information, the police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The police lodged an FIR against both accused under sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
SHO Singh added the police arrested both accused who were trying to escape from the village within four hours of the incident.
