JEE Main 2023: Delhi govt school student among 43 who scored 100 percentile
A 17-year-old Delhi government school student was among the 43 candidates who scored 100 percentile in JEE Main 2023 Session 2, according to the merit list released by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Asteek Narayan, a student at a government school in Radhey Shyam Park, who is among the toppers. He tweeted: “Delhi govt school student, Asteek Narayan has scored a 100 percentile score in JEE Mains. So proud of you Asteek.”
Speaking to The Indian Express, school head Hari Krishnan said, “Asteek has been studying in our school since Class 6. He has always been talented, he participates in every activity and gives it his best. The Delhi government holds a mental math competition in schools and Asteek always stood first in the zone, district and state level. He has also topped other national examinations.”
He added: “Asteek’s parents stayed up several nights while he was preparing for his exams and made sure he never got distracted from his goals. The school also motivated and supported him.”
Krishnan said Asteek also has a younger brother who studies in the same school. Their father works in the Delhi Metro.
The JEE (Main), apart from being a gateway to BE/BTech at NITs and other centrally funded technical institutions, is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced). Only those who clear the cut off will be able to take a shot at pursuing engineering at the IITs.
