Man arrested days after murdering live-in partner, dumping her body in Delhi’s Karawal Nagar

Days after a woman was murdered in Northeast Delhi’s Karawal Nagar by her boyfriend and his sister after she tried to force the man to marry her, the Delhi Police Crime Branch said they have arrested the accused Vineet Panwar.

The woman was found in Karawal Nagar on April 12 and rushed to GTB Hospital where she was declared dead, the police said. During the investigation, officers identified the deceased as Mahi alias Rohina Naaz and it emerged that her boyfriend Vineet Panwar, his brother Mohit and sister Parul were the main prime suspects in the murder. Vineet had allegedly strangled Rohina and hid her body in a bed box. Later, he disposed of the body around 12 km away.

“It came to notice that Vineet and Parul, along with her friend Irfan, were involved in dumping the body in Karawal Nagar after killing her at Teliwada, Farsh Bazar,” DCP (Northeast) Joy Tirkey had said. While Parul, Mohit and Irfan were arrested by the local police, Vineet remained absconding.

During interrogation, Vineet told the police that he got to know the deceased in 2017 and started a live-in relationship with her. However, he got involved in a case of murder in 2017 in Uttar Pradesh and Rohina began living with his sister Parul.

Vineet was sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case, the police said. When he was granted parole by the Allahabad High Court in 2022 and started working as a security guard at a college, Rohina started forcing him to marry her as she allegedly wanted his property.

“Vineet, along with sister Parul and co-accused Irfan, hatched a conspiracy to kill Rohina and dump her body at Karawal Nagar,” said Special CP (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
