Nine dead after gas leaks in Punjab’s Ludhiana

Following a gas leakage incident in Punjab’s Ludhiana, nine people died and a few others fell unconscious, confirmed Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Police Commissioner.  

“Nine deaths confirmed so far,” Mr. Sidhu told reporters.  

The incident occurred in Giaspura area of Ludhiana on April 30 morning. The type of gas that leaked and its source is yet to be ascertained. 

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that along with police, a team from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team, and government officials, have been pressed into action for rescue and are present at the spot.  

Mr. Mann expressed grief over the incident assured all possible help.
