Salman Khan and Govinda reunite at awards show, dance performance makes fans clamour for Partner 2
Former co-stars Salman Khan and Govinda reunited on stage at the recent Filmfare Awards, where they danced to the title track of their hit film, Partner. Salman also co-hosted the ceremony, alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Maniesh Paul. Their fans were excited to see them together again, several years after Partner’s release.
A clip of the dance performance was shared by Colors on Instagram and Twitter, ahead of the telecast of the awards ceremony at 9 pm on Saturday. The clip showed Salman and Govinda dancing together with big smiles on their faces, and it ended with them sharing a warm hug with each other. “Isko bolte hai hero,” one fan wrote in the comments section, while others called for them to do a film together.
After Partner, which was released in 2007, Govinda made a special appearance in Salman’s 2009 hit Wanted. But since then, while Salman’s career hit new highs, Govinda’s career has taken a turn for the worse. In a retrospective interview with Bollywood Hungama on the 15th anniversary of Partner, Govinda revealed that Salman replaced him in the hit 90s film Judwaa, and in fact, called to tell him this. Rumours of the two stars being on bad terms have been doing the rounds for years.
In a 2011 interview with Rediff, Salman shut down the rumours, and said, “There is no problem between us so the question of solving it does not arise. Even to have an issue, there needs to be a reason and we do not have any reason to have a fight. Just because we did not do any films after Partner does not mean something’s wrong. We don’t always have to be together to remain friends.”
Salman was last seen in the film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which received poor reviews and underperformed at the box office.
