Woman SHO from Haryana dies as truck hits her police vehicle in Maharashtra

A woman police inspector from Haryana’s Panchkula was killed after a truck allegedly hit her police vehicle in Maharashtra in the early hours of Saturday, police said. Four other members of her team, including the driver, were also injured in the accident but their condition is stable, officers added.

The deceased officer has been identified as Inspector Neha Chauhan, Station House Officer of Panchkula women police station in Sector 5. Chauhan and her team members were travelling in a white Bolero from Maharashtra’s Wardha district when the police vehicle met with the accident. The team, headed by Chauhan, had gone to Wardha in connection with an investigation into a dowry case.

A police officer said, “So far, we were informed that the police vehicle was hit by a truck. We are in constant touch with the Maharashtra Police. Neha Chauhan was the SHO of Panchkula Woman Police Station, Sector 5. We have sent a team to Maharashtra.”

Chauhan, a native of Shahbad in Kurukshetra, lived with her family at Police Lines, Moginand l in Panchkula. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and a son.
