The official one nyad The trailer for Netflix’s upcoming sports biographical drama has been unveiled, with Oscar nominee Annette Bening bringing the inspiring true story of swimmer Diana Nyad to the big screen. The film is scheduled to hit select theaters on October 20th, with its streaming debut following on November 3rd.
The video highlights the difficult journey Benings Nyad must endure to fulfill her lifelong dream of completing a 110-mile swim from Cuba to Florida. It shows how Nyad managed to defy expectations and limitations by persevering through a tough training program. She gets through with the help of her best friend, played by Oscar winner Jodie Foster.

Who is involved in Nyad?
Nyad is the directorial debut of documentary filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin (“Free Solo,” “The Rescue”). The film was written by Julia Cox and is based on Nyad’s Find A Way memoir. Bening and Foster are joined by Rhys Ifans, Ethan Jones Romero, Luke Cosgrove, Jeena Yi and Eric T. Miller.
“NYAD is a remarkable true story of tenacity, friendship and the triumph of the human spirit, telling a compelling chapter in the life of world-class athlete Diana Nyad,” the synopsis reads. “Three decades after giving up marathon swimming in exchange for a prominent career as a sports journalist, Diana, at age 60, is obsessed with completing an epic swim that always eluded her: the oft-mentioned 110-mile trek from Cuba to Florida as “Mount Everest” among swimmers. Determined to become the first person to complete swimming without a shark cage, Diana embarks on an exciting four-year journey with her best friend and coach Bonnie Stoll and a dedicated sailing team.”
The film is executive produced by Bill Johnson, Jim Seibel, Michael Heimler, Vanessa Humphrey, Julia Cox and D. Scott Lumpkin, with Andrew Lazar and Teddy Schwarzman producing.
