Welcome back to Once and For All, where we find out whether the things people rave about, value, and build their entire identity around are actually worth the investment. We’ve looked at cast iron pans, linen sheets, and more, and today we’re reviewing Dyson vacuums.
When tidying up the house feels like hard manual labor, it puts a real damper on my day. Do I want to scrub the smoothie stain off the counter? Absolutely not. Of course, the trash probably needs to be taken out (especially since it contains the leftovers from my salmon dinner), but who wants to go through the hassle of lugging the bag to the dumpster? Long story short: It sucks being an adult – but one major advantage of modern times is that we have more high-tech and carefully crafted gadgets, sprays and scrubbers than ever before, all designed to improve our lives easier to make.
There are many high-quality cleaning products and equipment on the market today that make cleaning easier. Fun. Have you seen #cleantok? I admire influencers’ dedicated cleaning regimens and long to emulate them one day. I’m almost there, as I regularly use a Scrub Daddy and am committed to the only vacuum that has one Strictly speaking I enjoyed vacuuming: the Dyson V12 Detect Slim.
Dyson
V12 detects slim vacuum
You’ve almost certainly heard of Dyson; If you don’t already have friends in the brand’s cult following of vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, hair care devices, and other home appliances, then you’ve probably used its super-powerful hand dryers in public restrooms. The brand has positively conquered the market for high-end and high-end products.Technology home electronics. Of course, this begs the question: Are Dyson products worth it once and for all?
James Dyson (aka Daddy Dyson) invented the first bagless vacuum cleaner, the G-Force, in 1983. It took 5,127 prototypes to perfect the model before it hit shelves in Japan for a whopping $2,000. The product’s success eventually led to Dyson becoming a full-fledged consumer technology company in 1993, securing a factory and research center for further innovation. Thanks to the new headquarters, the DC01 was born, which captured even smaller dust particles, featured “Dual Cyclone” technology and maintained 100% suction power throughout its lifespan. The rest is obviously history. Now it’s 2023 and Dyson is one of the leading vacuum cleaner brands in retail with many imitators.
The vacuum cleaners no longer cost $2,000 (thank goodness), but they Are expensive enough (models start at $300 and prices for the top models exceed $1,000) that the cost must be justified. Are Dyson vacuum cleaners really the goats? Does #cleantok agree? You have questions and I have answers.
I may be biased, but I think Dyson vacuum cleaners are the best of the best. I swear by the life of my PlayStation that they are the best vacuum cleaners I have ever used. My favorite, the V12 Detect Slim mentioned above, is super lightweight, weighing just 5.2 pounds. This lightweight design makes cleaning feel like a breeze, and I vacuum up dust, dirt, and glass (when I dropped my vase) in seconds, even when my room is pitch black, since it has a built-in bright green laser . Papa Dyson changed my life as a cleaner.
While I’d like to see myself as the authoritative spokesperson for my own Dyson vacuum collection, there’s always room for an expert opinion, so I reached out to organization and cleaning expert Caroline Solomon (better known on TikTok as @neat.caroline). She has a whopping 245,000 followers for her cleaning tips, tricks, and recommendations.
Solomon is a big Dyson fan, her personal favorite vacuum cleaner from the brand is the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute (a real blast – and at the moment it is). $150 off). “Because it captures invisible dust that is not visible to the naked eye, it does more of the work for you more thoroughly,” explains Solomon. “It also changes the suction intensity depending on the type of floor and the amount of dust detected. For these reasons it is simply fun to use and vacuuming is fun and like a game.”

According to Solomon, Dyson is absolutely worth the price. “If you are looking for a reliable vacuum cleaner with solid suction power ([the brand] even [has its] “Dyson, with its own patented cyclone technology, is the best choice for everyday vacuuming of dust, hair and other allergens,” she said. “If you’re also looking for a vacuum that’s easy to store, use and charge, it’s 100% worth the hype and investment.”
Dyson has a huge range of cordless vacuum cleaners on the market that are truly revolutionizing apartment living. They are extremely portable and compact without sacrificing innovation. “They’re a dream come true for apartment dwellers who are limited on storage space,” says Solomon. “The docking station that every Dyson comes with is super convenient, easy to install and makes storing your cordless vacuum a breeze (you can even keep it behind your door!).”
Solomon also praised Dyson’s exceptional customer service and the way the brand offers free out-of-warranty repair assessments, which is an absolute must when it comes to expensive tech. If something goes wrong with your device, a reliable warranty can be a real life (and money) saver.
As if I don’t talk about TikTok enough (hence my extensive roundup of the platform’s favorite things). My algorithm is filled to the brim with Dyson stans. Just check out this crazy footage of a Dyson at work, with a soundtrack by Britney Spears and over four million views. Users flooded the comments wishing to own such a divine household appliance.
Or maybe you want to clean your eyes during this “Dyson Whole House Vacuum With Me” video with over a million likes… (I love living vicariously through TikTok influencers.)
I’m not going to lie: before joining TikTok, I wasn’t really sold on Dyson vacuum cleaners, but only because I didn’t know what they were really capable of. Fast forward to 2023, and thanks to influencers influencing me, I have the vacuum of my dreams. Solomon’s TL;DR? “If you are looking for a mid- to high-end cordless vacuum cleaner, then the Dyson vacuum cleaner is for you.”
Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither are Dyson vacuum cleaners. Great things take time, and this $2,000 ’80s G-Force vacuum cleaner is proof. Dyson vacuum cleaners are indeed the goats. [Gavel slam] The verdict is in, and yes, they are worth it.
