Pain addicts will be released on Netflix in the US on October 27th. The film had its world premiere on September 11, 2023 at the Toronto International Film Festival. Collider’s Ross Bonaime was cautious about the film, giving it a 3 and saying in his review:

The article focused on the pharmaceutical company Insys, which enjoyed a period of financial success due to the opioid epidemic through a program that paid doctors lucrative “speaking fees” to encourage them to To prescribe Subsys, a fentanyl-based painkiller, to their patients. To increase their numbers, Insys hired attractive salespeople with little to no experience, mostly women in their 20s and 30s, and also catered to doctors who needed money for personal or professional reasons.
