Princess Catherine gets her hands dirty.
The Queen made her debut today as Lieutenant-Colonel of the 1st Queen’s Dragoon Guards (QDG) Regiment – a title bestowed on her by King Charles III this summer. was awarded – by visiting the unit for the first time and dressing in full uniform.
The Princess of Wales wore a green camouflage vest and helmet over her stylish black trousers and lace-up boots. She received a briefing from the regiment’s senior officers and learned some of the techniques used by the soldiers on site – such as the use of drones and radios.

The QDG specializes in reconnaissance: the act of contacting the enemy and understanding their modus operandi in order to defeat them. The regiment was deployed around the world, including on many peacekeeping missions.

Kate also met with families of QDG employees to hear about their experiences and paid tribute to the lives lost on active duty ahead of Remembrance Day. At the end, she presented a number of awards – including long service and good conduct medals – to some members of the regiment and even promoted the regiment’s mascot, a Welsh Bay mountain pony named Trooper Longface Emrys Jones, from corporal to corporal.

Kate also holds two other military titles: Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm and Royal Honorary Air Commodore of the Royal Air Force Coningsby.
