Sadiq Khan wants to prevent a former Met police officer convicted of a string of rapes from receiving his pension from the police.

The London Mayor will seek to remove Provan from an alleged £10,000 annual pension following his conviction – as he did for Wayne Couzens, who was jailed for the 2020 rape and murder of Sarah Everard.

Met police officers typically have their pensions revoked if their offense is related to their position within the service.

Provan, 44, will serve another eight years on an extended license following his multiple rape conviction.

Proven was found guilty of raping a co-worker six times between 2003 and 2005 and twice a teenager he met on a blind date after he lied about his age in 2010.

All offenses were committed during his time as an officer in the Met’s East Area Command Unit.

Provan lied about his age, claiming he was 22, but he was 31 at the time of the rape in 2010.

Ms Taylor told LBC: “I was telling myself his name is Adam Dawson, he’s 22, he’s a cop I think.” [afterwards] It was just a quick way to get me to trust him.

“At the time I thought: I trust you, you’re a cop. No police officer will ever harm people.”

“Since [the attack] I just thought this was all just a scam just to get me to trust him. I was so young and naive and thought it was just an excuse to get me to date him and so for years I thought he wasn’t actually a cop.

“I only found out about it after the police arrested him. I was really shocked – really disgusted – when I found out he worked for the Metropolitan Police.”
