Protests across the West Bank – which grew increasingly violent after reports of an explosion at a hospital in Gaza that Palestinian authorities said killed hundreds of people on Tuesday – were also directed against the Palestinian Authority (PA), which has long been Security coordination with Israel is criticized because of its policy.
PA security forces used tear gas and stun grenades on Tuesday to disperse protesters calling for the overthrow of President Mahmoud Abbas.
Israeli authorities have arrested more than 600 people in the occupied West Bank since fighting began. Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem also warned of increasing harassment from Israeli settlers and security forces.
