- More than 80 interest groups and public figures have joined together in a campaign
Children must no longer be taught that they can be born in the wrong body, a coalition of politicians, activists and famous names is demanding today.
In a major campaign, more than 80 interest groups and public figures have come together to demand an end to the spread of gender ideology in society.
They say the NHS and private doctors should never prescribe medication to prevent young people from transitioning into puberty, and schools should never allow students to “socially transition” by allowing them to change names, pronouns and uniforms.
Her Biological Reality Statement also aims to strengthen women’s rights by protecting single-sex spaces such as restrooms and medical wards and banning transgender athletes from women’s sports.
And to defend freedom of speech, they say no one should be reprimanded for not being able to change gender, while public bodies such as the NHS and the police must stop displaying “ideological symbols” such as the rainbow flag.
The ideology of gender identity is now so deeply rooted that it poses a significant risk for countless children and young people (photo).

Celebrity signatories include MPs Mark Jenkinson, Nick Fletcher and Neale Hanvey, peer Baroness Fox of Buckley, Olympic athletes Sharron Davies and Mara Yamauchi, as well as comedy writer Graham Linehan and pioneering headteacher Katherine Birbalsingh.
The coordinator of the declaration, James Esses, writes in the email: “All signatories are united by the desire to maintain biological reality in society.” This is not about left or right. It’s about right and wrong.’
The rallying cry comes amid bitter arguments in court, in Parliament, in the public sector and on social media over the belief that self-described gender identity is more important than biological sex.
The statement begins: “In recent years there has been a demonstrable attack on biological reality in the UK.”
This has distorted public policy and public discourse in favor of an ideology that has no scientific basis and poses security risks for some of the most vulnerable groups.”
Ministers have tried to fight back and plan to rewrite the Equality Act to make it clear that the term “sex” is based on biology and not gender identity.
Last week the Labor-led Welsh government was accused of trying to introduce gender self-identification through the back door.
And Scotland’s Court of Session has ruled that a transgender woman who receives a gender recognition certificate is a woman for the purposes of the Equality Act, a decision which campaigners say means biological men can be considered lesbians.
