Bring out the silver swords, because there’s something exciting going on Witcher News in progress. Netflix revealed a much As part of the Geeked Week 2023 celebrations, there will be plenty of new trailers and announcements over the weekend. For those of us waiting to return to the continent afterwards The Witcher The big news for the third season is that Netflix has released a teaser for the next animated series Witcher Movie, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. Listen:

Video game actor Geralt of Rivia will reprise the role in Sirens of the Deep

This first announcement teaser is pretty sparse: it mostly shows Geralt drawing his sword. But the voice of the Witcher sent goosebumps down my spine because it is none other than Doug Cockle, the voice actor who played Geralt in CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed video game series. Cockle’s performance as Geralt was absolutely popular; He was even one of the inspirations for how Henry Cavill played the character. It’s beyond exciting that he’s lending his language talents Sirens of the Deep.

This announcement also confirms that the anime film will be released on Netflix in late 2024. As for the film, Netflix has released another teaser trailer that provides a bit more context:

As you can see, Geralt will face off against some mermen in this film. Sirens of the Deep is based on the short story by Andrzej Sapkowski A small sacrificethat appears in the collection Sword of Destiny. The most important events of Sword of Destiny were adjusted during The Witcher Season 1, but not all of the short stories fit into this one outing. Input Sirens of the Deep.

A small sacrifice is essentially Sapkowski’s point of view The little mermaidbut with The Witcher You know it’s going to be a lot darker and more complicated. Geralt is tasked with negotiating between two lovers: a prince named Agloval and a mermaid named Sh’eenaz. He wants her to give up her fins to live on land; She thinks he should be the one to make a small sacrifice and live underwater with her instead, even though he wouldn’t be able to breathe. This leads to the brink of war between their two peoples, with Geralt caught in the middle.

The story also takes place at an interesting point in Geralt’s life, at a time when he and his sorceress Yennefer are estranged. Ciri isn’t in the picture yet either, but Geralt’s bard friend Dandelion and another bard named Essi Daven both play important roles in the story. It is not yet clear whether Sirens of the Deep I will stick to this chronology or revise things so that this story takes place later in Geralt’s life. Hopefully Netflix will reveal more details in the near future!

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep coming to Netflix at the end of 2024.
