Barton Cowperthwaite, who starred in the 2020 Netflix ballet series “Tiny Pretty Things,” has been diagnosed with brain cancer.
Cowperthwaite wrote in an Instagram post on Friday updating his health, saying he had been diagnosed with “at least a stage 2 glioma” and that it was “a fairly large brain tumor.”
“The only treatment for something like this is brain surgery. So far the doctors have been confident that they can remove most of the tumor and that after a successful surgery and some rehab I will operate like me (amazing, talented, brilliant, hilarious),” he wrote.
He said he and his family had planned to visit several other doctors for a second opinion, but for now he plans to undergo surgery in the next week or so.
“I will do my best to be open about the journey ahead,” he wrote, adding, “I plan to get back on my feet to be better than my former glory!”
His post included a photo of himself in a hospital gown and a few photos showing his brain scans.
On Saturday, Cowperthwaite said in a video posted to his Instagram that the “lemon-sized” brain tumor was discovered during a scan he underwent after suffering “multiple seizures” over the past eight weeks.
