Summer deadline day is fast approaching and Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool are all expected to be busy well into the final hours of the window. The Gunners are working on exits and have up to eight players with uncertain futures before potentially adding a new defender before 11pm BST on Friday night.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are ready to leave Romelu Lukaku to his target on another loan deal with Roma but have told Arsenal Emile Smith Rowe is not for sale as they could face Tottenham around Ansu Fati. Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong is also a target as Manchester United have bid £2m for Marc Cucurella on loan, as well as interest in Nicolas Tagliafico, Marcos Alonso, Rico Henry and Sergio Reguilon.

Spurs finalize a deal worth almost £50million for Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson to complete their summer signings while also having to move many current players. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is also interesting for United. The biggest potential deal is Al-Ittihad, which shows Saudi Arabia’s interest in signing Mohamed Salah and this deal is expected to see through to the end. Man United intensify talks with Nicolas Tagliafico

Manchester United’s search for a new left-back is gaining momentum ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

Erik ten Hag is currently in something of a crisis at the position with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both out injured and Brandon Williams left on loan at Ipswich last week.

Diogo Dalot stepped in as a makeshift left-back against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with youngster Alvaro Fernandez also in the squad.

United have been linked with a surprise win for Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon, Benfica’s Rico Henry and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso, among others.

But now Nicolas Tagliafico seems to have emerged as the first option after reports from The Independent and others intensified talks with Lyon over the Argentine world champions.

United are said to want a loan deal for the 30-year-old, while Lyon would appear to prefer a permanent sale worth around £5.15million plus surcharges for a player who previously worked with Ten Hag at Ajax.

Hojlund was finally able to make his Man United debut

Rasmus Hojlund could make his Manchester United debut against Arsenal this weekend.

So says Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand, who added the 20-year-old to his latest squad after watching the striker train at United’s Carrington base.

They have had two wins in their first three games but have been largely underwhelmed so far and are therefore delighted at the opportunity to pit their £73m summer signing against the title contenders at the Emirates Stadium.
