The workers were left hanging when the scaffolding collapsed

This is the terrifying moment construction workers dangled helplessly from an office building after scaffolding collapsed.

They were left 500 feet in the air on the high-rise project in São Paulo, Brazil, earlier this week.

One person died in the incident, but it is unknown whether they were struck by debris or fell.

The other trapped workers were later rescued by a crane on site.

The police sent a helicopter to the scene of the accident and ten fire engines were also deployed.

Lidiane Dias, an eyewitness, said the trapped workers were rescued after “a few minutes.”

“The noise was very loud, a lot of things fell down.” The structure collapsed. “We couldn’t see where the debris fell because it was inside the construction site,” she said.

Authorities in São Paulo said they were investigating the case.

In August, eight people had to be rescued from a cable car dangling 1,200 feet above a ravine in northwestern Pakistan.

Six children and two adults were stuck on the chairlift for more than 10 hours after a rope broke as their group headed to school in Battagram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday morning.

There was confusion over how many were still stuck on the cable car, as conflicting reports came from the rural area.
