Madelaine Petsch, known from The Strangers, and Gavin Casalegno of The Summer I Turned Pretty fame, are set to appear in the new young adult romance film titled Chasing Red. The production of the movie is scheduled to commence next month in AlUla, Saudi Arabia.
The upcoming movie is an adaptation of the Wattpad webnovel by Isabelle Ronin, with Mackenzie Munro directing the project. Lauren Schacher, who previously worked on Hooking Up, is penning the screenplay. The film’s production is being handled by Greg Silverman and Grant Torre from Stampede Ventures, known for Motor City, alongside David Madden and Jason Goldberg from WEBTOON Productions, the team behind the After franchise.
Chasing Red revolves around Veronica, portrayed by Petsch, a diligent straight-A student who resists becoming another notch on the belt of college popular guy Caleb, played by Casalegno. Despite her resistance, a random meeting ignites a strong attraction between them. Fleeing a troubled history and without a place to stay, Veronica finds herself living under the same roof as Caleb. As they yield to their growing chemistry, their relationship deepens amidst a backdrop of secrets and deceit, leading to a compelling mix of romance and betrayal.
International sales for Chasing Red are being managed by Mister Smith Entertainment, which has already secured distribution agreements across a broad spectrum of regions.
