BAFTA Games Awards Crowns ‘Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’ Game Of The Year

It’s time to sport your chicest beret. Sandfall and Kepler Interactive’s French-themed action adventure game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 clinched the Best Game award at the 22nd BAFTA Games Awards. The ceremony took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the South Bank in London this past Friday.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 not only took home the Best Game award but also received accolades for Debut Game and Performer in a Leading Role, the latter awarded to Jennifer English for her portrayal of Maelle. The game was a top contender with a total of 12 nominations, followed closely by Dispatch with nine, Ghost of Yōtei with eight, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach with seven, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle with six.

Other notable winners included Death Stranding 2 for Artistic Achievement, Ghost of Yōtei for both Technical Achievement and Music, No Man’s Sky for Evolving Game, Lego Party! for Family Game, South of Midnight for New Intellectual Property, and Atomfall for British Game. Jeffrey Wright was awarded Performer in a Supporting Role for his character Chase in Dispatch.

The event was graced with several celebrity presenters including Charlie Cox of Daredevil: Born Again fame, who was also a nominee in the Multiplayer category for his role as Gustave in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Abubakar Salim from House of the Dragon presented the Animation award, while renowned James Bond composer David Arnold unveiled a new title song by Lana Del Rey for the upcoming game 007: First Light and presented the Music award. Angela Sant’Albano and Nick Apostolides from Resident Evil Requiem presented the award for Performer in a Supporting Role, with Lennie James from The Walking Dead presenting the award for Performer in a Leading Role.

A special highlight of the show was a live performance by Talia Mar who sang “Stay the Night.”
