Federation Studios Co-MD Marco Chimenz Exits After Nearly Three Years

Leadership Change at Federation Studios

After a tenure of nearly three years, Marco Chimenz has stepped down as co-managing director of Federation Studios.

Chimenz, who joined the company in 2023, was instrumental in managing operations alongside Pascal Breton and Lionel Uzan at the studio known for productions like The Bureau and Around the World in 80 Days. He officially left his position on April 8. Following his departure, Chimenz’s former responsibilities have been consolidated under Uzan, who has now assumed the role of managing director.

Pascal Breton expressed his gratitude, stating, “We sincerely thank Marco for his significant contributions towards our international expansion and wish him great success in his upcoming professional pursuits.”

Reflecting on his experience, Chimenz remarked, “The past two and a half years have been profoundly enriching and provided me with the opportunity to collaborate with a vibrant, youthful, and driven group of executives and producers. I extend my best wishes to them all.”

Before his stint at Federation, Chimenz was at the helm of Cattleya, the production company behind Gomorrah. His leadership period at Federation coincided with a notable growth phase for the studio, one of the largest in Europe, which recently has been expanding its English language offerings with projects like adaptations of Around the World in 80 Days, A Tale of Two Cities, and Gulliver’s Travels.

Previously, Federation executives had discussed plans with Deadline to seek substantial financial investments, aiming for hundreds of millions, though there has been no update on this matter. During his time, Chimenz had been focused on expanding the studio’s footprint in the U.S., highlighted by the success of The Agency, the American adaptation of Éric Rochant’s The Bureau.
