At the Spider-Man: Brand New Day press event covered by ScreenRant, Zendaya discussed MJ’s evolving role in Phase 6 of the MCU. She pointed out, “In earlier movies, MJ was often the skeptic, with Peter being the hopeful one. Now, it’s fascinating to see those roles reversed. Peter has taken on a more cynical view, while she has unknowingly adopted his optimistic outlook. This shift suggests a deep, lingering connection between them.”
The latest trailers reveal that both MJ and Ned are shaping new lives in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline, despite having no memory of Peter. Jacob Batalon, who portrays Ned, commented at the same press conference, “It’s tough for Peter because, unfortunately, Ned and MJ are leading fulfilling lives without him.”
Yet, both Ned and MJ sense a void, as Batalon further explained, “They feel like something essential is missing. For Ned, using the Spidey Tracker seems to be his way of bridging that gap with Spider-Man.” Holland previously hinted that “No one remembers Spider-Man is Peter Parker, except for one person,” though it’s still unclear who that person is.
