Anthony Boyle, known for his role in House of Guinness, is set to lead the cast in the new Sky drama series titled Charmer. In this intriguing new show, Boyle will portray a professional seducer who is employed by affluent individuals to test the loyalty of their significant others.

The series, consisting of eight episodes, will also feature Siena Kelly from Black Mirror, Connor Swindells known for The Entertainment System is Down, and Sophie Wilde of Digger fame. Production for Charmer is currently underway, with Working Title and Story Films producing the series in collaboration with Universal Global Television and Sky Studios. The show is scheduled to premiere on Sky and the streaming service Now in the UK and Italy, while NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution will handle the international sales.

About ‘Charmer’

The plot of Charmer centers around a dynamic group of individuals in their thirties, based in London, whose lives are disrupted by Ryan, played by Boyle, a charmer-for-hire. Ryan’s job is to infiltrate relationships to test partners’ loyalty at the behest of his wealthy clients. The drama intensifies as Ryan’s latest assignment grows personal when a wedding approaches, challenging the professional detachment he has maintained throughout his career. As lines between deceit and desire blur, Ryan finds himself at risk of violating his fundamental rule: never fall in love.

Industry Update and Creative Team

The announcement of Charmer arrives just before the commencement of the UK’s largest television industry event, the Edinburgh TV Festival, which marks its last occurrence in Edinburgh before relocating to Manchester next year.

The series is created and written by Thomas Aspell, with direction by Elliot Hegarty. The writing team for additional episodes includes Melissa Bubnic, Constance Cheng, and Anna Ssemuyaba, with Dionne Edwards directing the second block of episodes.

Production Leadership

Executive producers for Charmer include Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Surian Fletcher-Jones, and Simon Hatton from Working Title Television, along with David Nath and Peter Beard from Story Films. Thomas Aspell and Elliot Hegarty also serve as executive producers. Co-executive producer for the series is Josh Wilkins, while Manpreet Dosanjh acts as the EP for Sky, and Charlotte Surtees is the series producer.
