Promoted as a “heartwarming journey into the expanding interest in Korean spiritual practices,” the show will feature individuals receiving personalized fate readings while they recount personal tales of romance, sorrow, and other profound experiences. Alongside this, they will delve into the captivating practices of Korean shamanism through local shamanistic ceremonies, exploring a unique aspect of Korean culture.
This announcement comes shortly after Battle of Fates rose to prominence as the leading show on Disney+ Korea within just 12 days of its release, surpassing the show Moving. The competitive reality series featured 49 of South Korea’s renowned spiritual experts—including fortune-tellers, shamans, and tarot readers—battling it out to demonstrate their prowess in predicting the future.
Participants in the show utilized a variety of tools and methods, from traditional fans and bells to dowsing rods and modern technology like laptops. They even communicated with spirit guides in their efforts to provide the most accurate readings and remain in the competition.
