The latest trailer for Sweetpea Season 2 has been released, featuring the seemingly shy murderer Rhiannon, who returns in the dark comedy thriller series produced by Sky and Starz. The plot continues following the lethal incidents of the Season 1 finale, with Rhiannon facing the challenges of a recent promotion at her newspaper job and a copycat murderer who threatens to reveal her secret.
As the number of her victims increases, she begins to question if her former boyfriend AJ was right: Is she truly a monster?
Purnell (Fallout) reprises her role in the series, joining her are new cast members such as Rish Shah (Overcompensating) who plays Rhiannon’s love interest Gabriel, and Tamsin Greig (Riot Women) who portrays AJ’s mother, Liv. Taj Atwal (Riot Women) stars as Freya, Rhiannon’s imposing new boss at the Carnsham Gazette, and Jenny Walser (Heartstopper) appears as her new friend Daisy.
The show sees the return of Jon Pointing (Big Boys), Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso), Leah Harvey (Foundation), Ingrid Oliver (Thursday Murder Club), Nitin Ganatra (Mr Bigstuff) and Alexandra Dowling (Game of Thrones).
Sweetpea is based on the novel by C.J. Skuse and is a production of See-Saw Films and fanboy in collaboration with Sky Studios. The executive production team includes Patrick Walters (Heartstopper), alongside Helen Gregory, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman from See-Saw, with Ella Jones and Purnell also serving as executive producers. Kirstie Swain, who led the writing in the first season, continues her role.
For Season 2, Selina Lim takes on the role of lead writer and co-executive producer, working alongside Emme Hoy, Simon Gillis, and Natasha Heliotis. The series producer is Zorana Piggott (Heartstopper). The writing team also comprises Hoy, Anna Jordan, and Laura Jayne Tunbridge, who contribute as episodic writers. Manpreet Dosanjh serves as the Commissioning Editor for Sky.
The series is scheduled to premiere on Sky in the UK in November and will be available on Starz in early 2027.
