Fans are overwhelmingly embracing EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert.
This innovative blend of concert film and documentary features never-before-seen clips of the legendary musician, assembled by director Baz Luhrmann from his exploration for his 2022 film Elvis. The film, which cast Austin Butler as Elvis, not only succeeded critically and at the box office, earning $288.7 million on a budget of $85 million but also received nominations for eight Oscars.
With EPiC now showing in cinemas, Rotten Tomatoes has collected enough reviews from verified users for the film to secure an impressive initial audience score on the Popcornmeter. Currently, it boasts an exceptional score of 99% on the meter. Should this high approval continue as more reviews come in, the film is set to be designated as Verified Hot on the site.
This outstanding 99% rating not only makes EPiC the top-rated movie of the weekend but also places it above other new releases, such as the sequel to the MercyMe biopic I Can Only Imagine 2 at 98%, the thriller Psycho Killer at 35%, and Glen Powell’s How to Make a Killing at 76%.
Moreover, this 99% rating surpasses the impressive 94% garnered by 2022’s Elvis, which itself is Verified Hot on Rotten Tomatoes. It represents the second highest Popcornmeter score for Austin Butler (following Dune: Part Two), the fourth highest for Tom Hanks, who portrayed Colonel Tom Parker (after Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, and A Man Called Otto), and is Baz Luhrmann’s highest score prior to EPiC.
Furthermore, out of the new reviews, 27 out of 28 have given the film a perfect five stars within a 12-hour period, with only one review giving it four stars. This indicates overwhelming positive reception.
