New Leadership at Amazon MGM Studios in the Nordic Region
Amazon MGM Studios is witnessing significant leadership changes in its Nordic operations.
Emilia Widstrand is set to take over as the head of Nordic originals, succeeding Karin Lindström who will pursue opportunities outside Amazon.
Tara Erer, who oversees Northern Europe Originals, recently communicated these changes to the staff through an internal memo.
Erer expressed gratitude towards Lindström for her contributions: “Karin Lindström has made the decision to step down from her position as head of Nordic Originals at Amazon MGM Studios to explore new ventures. Since joining our team in 2021, Karin has been instrumental in its foundation. Her exceptional creative intuition, outstanding leadership qualities, and consistently positive energy have significantly benefited our team.”
Erer acknowledged Lindström’s influence on notable projects, crediting her with the success of series like LOL: Last One Laughing, Roast on the Coast, and the upcoming Snake Killer and Vaka.
Erer enthusiastically announced, “I am delighted to reveal that Emilia Widstrand will be stepping into Karin’s role to lead the Nordic team at Amazon MGM Studios.”
Widstrand, who has been part of Amazon for nearly four years, played a significant role in developing series such as Blindspot and Vaka.
Erer praised Widstrand’s capabilities: “Emilia’s visionary creative approach and leadership skills are set to propel our Nordic content slate to new heights.”
The Nordic region remains a key focus for Amazon MGM, which has reorganized its European operations significantly over the last couple of years. Last year, it restructured its European markets into two segments, ramping up investments in “emerging” regions such as Benelux, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Nordics, while reducing funding in Africa and the MENA region.
