Excitement builds as filming commences for a new Evil Dead movie.
The year 2026 is set to be monumental for the horror series, with the release of Evil Dead Burn by director Sébastien Vaniček scheduled for July 24. In addition, another project by Francis Galluppi is in progress, though details remain under wraps.
However, Warner Bros. has recently announced via X that Galluppi’s project is titled Evil Dead Wrath, and production has officially begun. They shared a brief video that reveals the movie’s title in the iconic font of the series set against a red backdrop.
“Evil Dead Wrath has kicked off its gory production,” stated the post, complete with a blood drop emoji. The post doesn’t showcase any scenes or cast members, but the mention of abundant gore suggests it will maintain one of the series’ classic elements.
Galluppi first gained significant attention with his 2023 film Last Stop in Yuma County, which boasts an impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. His involvement in the new Evil Dead film provides him an excellent opportunity to solidify his reputation in the filmmaking industry.
While specific plot details are yet to be disclosed, the cast of Evil Dead Wrath includes Zach Gilford, Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Josh Helman, Ella Newton, Elizabeth Cullen, and Ella Oliphant. Sam Raimi, the original creator and director of the first three films in the franchise, is producing, with iconic actor Bruce Campbell, who played Ash Williams, serving as an executive producer.
With Evil Dead Wrath now in production, we can expect its release in the latter half of 2027, though an exact date has not yet been announced. The audience’s anticipation may hinge on the reception of this summer’s Evil Dead Burn.
Details about Burn are scant, but Vaniček has hinted that it will be a gripping experience for audiences. In a May interview with Variety, he stated:
“I aim for the audience to feel physically exhausted when they leave the theater, as if they’ve endured an emotional and intense ordeal. My goal is to deliver a visceral, sensory experience that impacts viewers deeply, similar to what we achieved with Infested.”
Vaniček’s film features Luciane Buchanan, Hunter Doohan, Tandi Wright, and Souheila Yacoub, among others. Unlike the 2023’s Evil Dead Rise, which moved from the traditional cabin in the woods to an urban apartment complex, Burn is expected to offer a unique setting.
The reception to Evil Dead Rise was largely positive, with critics praising its innovative frights and gore. The film’s worldwide gross of over $147 million underscores the franchise’s enduring appeal, prompting the development of two new installments.
It may be a while before we see any official images or footage from Evil Dead Wrath, but fans won’t have to wait much longer to see Deadites terrorizing the big screen this summer. It remains to be seen how these new entries will perform, but clearly, this horror series is crucial for Warner Bros. going forward.
