New Formula 1 Podcast Series Announced by Global
EXCLUSIVE: A new podcast centered around Formula 1, titled Up to Speed, is being launched by Global, featuring David Coulthard, a celebrated figure with 13 Grand Prix wins to his name, as a co-host.
Joining him on the podcast will be a dynamic team of four presenters, including Will Buxton from Drive to Survive, former racer and broadcaster Naomi Schiff, and Jolie Sharpe, an F1 presenter and content creator.
The series is set to debut on Monday, February 16 and will be available on Global Player, YouTube, and various podcast platforms, with production handled by Global Studios.
The hosting team aims to provide listeners with immediate reactions to races, exclusive behind-the-scenes content, and commentary on the hottest Formula 1 news, both on and off the track. New episodes will be released twice weekly, with Monday’s episodes providing quick analysis of the weekend’s races, and Thursday’s episodes delving into more detailed discussions on the week’s major topics, including interviews with prominent figures in the sport.
David Coulthard, who is also a co-founder of the Sony-owned Whisper Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the new venture, noting, “With the growing popularity of Formula 1 each year and the current momentum within the sport, now is the ideal time to start a podcast like this. It’s a significant season for Formula 1, and our goal is to immerse fans deeply into the excitement of the sport. We are committed to delivering in-depth interviews, incisive analysis, and most importantly, sharing our genuine passion and love for racing.”
Will Buxton believes that the podcast and its team of presenters will “open the doors a little wider” for fans, while Naomi Schiff emphasized the aim of the podcast to “share those key conversations, moments, and viewpoints with fans, and to dive into the issues that matter both on and off the track.”
Jolie Sharpe, who has recently partnered with CAA Sports Media, mentioned that Up to Speed offers “an opportunity to transform that into something fans can actively engage with.”
This announcement coincides with Global Studios’ recent acquisition of The Overlap, a sports media network established by Gary Neville, a former England and Manchester United football player. Global also owns The Fellas Studios and serves as the entertainment core for Global, primarily recognized as a leader in the radio industry.
