Filipino-American Star KC Montero Cast in ‘Shadow Transit’
Filipino-American television personality and actor KC Montero has officially signed on to the cast of the new neo-noir thriller, Shadow Transit.
Joining him in the film are UK-based musician Qymira and Indonesian-born, US-based actor Yoshi Sudarso. These talents are set to bring a diverse and dynamic flavor to the project.
APL Film to Distribute Globally
In a significant move for the film’s reach, Canadian company APL Film has secured the rights to be the global sales agent and distributor for Shadow Transit. This agreement was completed at the Cannes Film Market in May.
Directed by Pedring Lopez, known for the Netflix original action movie Maria which also featured Montero, Shadow Transit marks his first venture into English-language cinema.
The storyline of Shadow Transit weaves the lives of a bereaved photojournalist and a troubled DJ as they traverse the dark corners of Manila and Hong Kong, dodging the clutches of a formidable crime organization.
The film is a production collaboration between BlackOps Studios Asia and ACT3. Filming is set to commence in July with locations in both Manila and Hong Kong.
Director Lopez expressed his enthusiasm about Montero’s involvement, noting, “KC is a dynamic presence onscreen. It’s a joy to collaborate with him once more and harness his vibrant energy for Shadow Transit. The participation of Qymira and Yoshi adds significant depth and authenticity that greatly enhances the film’s quality.”
Lopez further commented on the partnership with APL Film, saying, “This partnership marks a significant advancement. APL Film’s dedication to pioneering narratives fits perfectly with our artistic vision for Shadow Transit. Having talents like KC, Qymira, and Yoshi makes our team even more formidable,” he added.
Brian Sweet, the Global Sales Director at APL Film, shared his excitement about the project, stating: “We are thrilled to collaborate with BlackOps Studios Asia and ACT3 on Shadow Transit. This film captivates and builds an intriguing atmosphere right from the start. We see great potential for it to appeal to festival goers and international markets alike.”
