‘Love Island’ Producer Lifted Restructures, Promotes Richard Cowles & Hires BBC Entertainment Exec

Major Changes at Lifted Entertainment Including New CEO Appointment

Lifted Entertainment, the production company behind Love Island, has announced a significant organizational overhaul and appointed a new CEO, Richard Cowles, formerly a veteran producer at the company.

New Creative Leadership and Staff Promotions

Owned by ITV Studios, Lifted Entertainment has expanded its creative leadership by bringing in two new creative directors: Chantal Boyle, previously a commissioning editor for Stranded on Honeymoon Island, and Ros Coward, the executive producer of My Mum, Your Dad, who has extensive experience with Lifted’s projects.

In addition to the new hires, several key promotions have been announced within the company. Tom Gould steps up as Chief Content Officer, and Jeanette Moffat has been named Director of Production. Adding to the leadership, Mike Spencer-Hayter and Diego Rincón have been appointed as Directors of Unscripted. Meanwhile, Kat Hebden will take over as Director of Development and New Business, and Micky Van Praagh will serve as Director of On-Screen Talent.

Structural Reorganization

As part of the reorganization, Lifted Entertainment will establish two distinct units within the company. One unit will concentrate on managing current shows, while the other will focus on new business development and client base expansion.

Chantal Boyle, who has recently completed a year with the BBC’s entertainment commissioning team and has also been an executive producer for Netflix’s Cheaters: Unfinished Business, will be a part of this new structure.

Lifted Entertainment, a prominent name in the entertainment industry, produces not only Love Island and its various spin-offs but also other popular shows like I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and the forthcoming The Neighbourhood with Graham Norton, co-produced with The Garden for ITV.

CEO Richard Cowles commented on the changes, stating, “Lifted has seen considerable growth in recent years in terms of our project scale, the ambition of our ideas, and the complexity of our deliveries. This restructuring is aimed at ensuring our sustainability over the long term. It brings enhanced clarity, leadership, and collaboration throughout the business, which not only strengthens our team cohesion but also safeguards our productions and empowers us to continue developing innovative and original formats for a diverse and expanding array of partners.”
